Abstract

Fertilization has to be made on the consideration of balance between nutrient in soil and that given in manure. Previous researches recommend that, fertilization (type, amount, time and method) and local-specific management land has to refer nutrient supply potential of soil and crop requirement. It has to be implemented in every technological advancement in farmer level. Therefore, a research was carried out in Alesilurung-Wajo in South Sulawesi. Planting date was July 20th, 2004. Plant spacing was (20×20)cm. Harvest date was November 3rd, 2004. Variety used was Ciliwung. Seed planted at age 15-day after seeded. Treatments were arranged in randomized complete block design with four replications. Plot size was (5×6)m. Treatments were NPKS-fertilizer (complete), NPK-fertilizer (without S), NPS-fertilizer (without K), NKS-fertilizer (without P), PKS-fertilizer (without N) and control (without fertilizer). Source of N, P, K and fertilizer were urea, SP-36, KCl and ZA respectively. Each fertilizer was given in dosage of 200kg urea, 100kg SP-36, 75kg KCl and 100kg ZA per hectare. Results indicated that NPKS-treatment gave highest milling-dry grain of 8.81 t ha-1 while control the lowest one of only 7.11 t ha-1, or difference of 1,700 kg ha-1.
