Abstract

agricultural system. Generally, organic matter improves physical, chemical and biology characteristics of soil which in low nutrient, easily run off and low water retention ability. A research was conducted in Tubajeng-Bajeng, Gowa-South Sulawesi from May to December 2001. It aimed to determine the most effective and efficient combination of organic and inorganic fertilizer to increase yield and farmer revenue. It was arranged in randomized complete block design, consisting of six treatments and replicated four times. Treatments were consisted of farmer’s dosage (100 kg urea + 20 kg SP-36 + 15 kg KCl per hectare); recommended dosage (200 kg urea + 50 kg SP-36 + 50 kg KCl per hectare); 1.0 t Bokaplus + 185 kg urea + 10 kg SP-36 + 10 kg KCl per hectare; 1.0 t Panen Mas + 170 kg urea + 20 kg SP-36 + 20 kg KCl per hectare; 1.0 t compost + 150 kg urea + 20 kg SP-36 + 20 kg KCl per hectare; and 2.0 t fermented rice straw + 125 kg urea + 75 kg SP-36 per hectare. Result showed Panen Mas combined with inorganic fertilizer gave highest yield of 7.19 t ha-1 with revenue of Rp 4,446,000 ha-1; followed by fermented rice straw with yield of 6.68 t ha-1 and revenue of Rp 4,473,500 ha-1. Lowest yield of 4.92 t ha-1 reached by farmer’s treatment with revenue of Rp 3,105,500 ha-1. Most efficient of input was fermented rice straw and compost giving R/C-ratios of 2.93 and 2.84
