Abstract


Jatropha plant is one of oil-producing crop with good prospect to be utilized as biofuel. This is due to its ability to grow well in dry- and marginal-land. Nevertheless, to develop it commercially, high yield-productivity crop is needed. Crop productivity depends very much on seed's quality to be used. This research aimed to study effect of mycorrhizae utilization in improving phosphate availability and its effect on growth of jatropha seed. Experiment was set up in a randomized complete block design with five treatments of mycorrhizae application that were 0; 2.5; 5; 7.5 and 10g mycorrhizae plant-1. Results showed that 7.5g mycorrhizae plant-1 increased phosphate availability up to 12.85ppm and showed better growth, as shown by higher plant height, number of leaf and also root volume.
