EVALUASI DAYA GABUNG HASIL 28 GALUR JAGUNG DENGAN TESTER MR4 DAN MR14 DI MALANG DAN BAJENG

Abstract

Pedigree test has to be done before particular lines can be used as parental materials in a variety improvement. Testcross is one of the test that can be done to determine the combining ability of those lines. The study was done to choose early maturity lines which perform good combining ability with Mr4 and Mr14 testers. 28 inbred lines maize derived from testcross with Mr4 and Mr14 and two varietal checks (Bima-1 and NK33) were evaluated in Malang, East Java and Bajeng, South Sulawesi from September to December 2004. The study followed nested design in split plot was used with two replication. Each genotype was planted in a 5 m row with planting, distance of 0.75 m x 0.20 m. Result of research show entri 2, 4, and 8 having good combining ability with Mr4 and also of Mr14 in Bajeng, and entri 28 having good combining ability with Mr4 in Malang and good combining ability with Mr14 in Bajeng.
