PENGARUH PEMANGKASAN TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN DAN PRODUKSI TANAMAN KAPAS TRANSGENIK
Abstract
This research aimed to study the effects of internode location pruning on main stem and of time of pruning on cotton growth and yield. Experiment was carried out at Bontoparang-Mangarabombang, Takalar South Sulawesi. It was arranged in 2-factor randomized complete block design with three replications. First factor was three internode locations to be pruned on main stem, namely 6th, 7th and 8th internode from branch after first flower. Second one were three times of pruning, namely at 50% first flowering, 50% not-yet blossoming fruit and 50% blossoming fruit. Cotton variety used were NuCOTN B (Bollgard). Results indicated that pruning on main stem at the different internode locations and combined with different times of pruning did not give different growth and yield. Pruning at 7th internode from branch after first flower gave higher number of simpodial branch per plant (6.8 branch), number of boll per plant (13.14 boll) and per 20m2 (1050.7 boll), cotton fiber with seed per plant (37.33 g), per 20m2 (3.02 kg) and per hectare (1.51 t) that was 12% higher than other treatments. Different times of pruning did not gave better cotton growth and yield.
