Abstract


A research to study the level and time of increasing
electro-conductivity on the growth and
yield of melon in floating raft hydroponic system
was conducted in plastic house, Malang, during
May until July 2005. Resarch results showed the
electro coductivity range from 2.5 mS cm-1 to 4
mS cm-1 during generative stage promoted plant
growth. The electro-conductivity level from 2.5
mS cm-1 to 4 mS cm-1 showed harvest time
earlier, and the electro-conductivity from 2.5 mS
cm-1 to 3.5 mS cm-1 during 30 to 50 days after
planting increased plant fruit weight. The level of
electro-conductivity from 2.5 mS cm-1 to 3.5 mS
cm-1 during 30 days after planting to harvest gave
the highest total soluble solid.
