Abstract

The research’s objectives was to study the
response of H.varicornis in fecundity and sex
allocation of its offspring sexin relating to host
size. The host larvae of L. huidobrensis, instar 2
and 3 were given to investigate number of laying
eggs every 24 hours, and then they were
maintained until emerging of offspring. The
results showed number of eggs were higher on
instar-3 (19.6 ± 12.24 ) than instar 2 (9.4 ± 2.6)
whilst the longevity of females were 25.2 ± 4.82
and 21.8 ± 3.96 days on instar 3 and 2
respectively. The number of daughters were
higher on instar 3 (51%) than on instar 2 (39%).
As oviposition period, male offspring dominated
in the firsts emerged (90%). Sex allocation
offsprings was influenced by host size of
H.varicornis, and it is usefull in biological
control implication especially for mass rearing.
