PENGARUH MULSA TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN POPULASI HAMA THRIPS DAN TANAMAN KRISAN (Chrysanthemum sp.)
Abstract
Thrips spp. is one of the limiting factors of
chrysant flower production. This pest cause
leaves and flowers damage of chrysant,
malformation of leaves wich become silvery,
poorly flowering, petal become brownish, and
fall of petal. Research aimed to know the impact
of mulch use toward thrips population increasing
and growth of chrysanthemum plant. The
research was conducted on Karanganyar, Center
Java. The main plot consist of mulches variety
with six treatments: no mulch, husk mulch, hush
coarcal mulch, black silver plastic mulch,
transparent white plastic mulch, and black plastic
mulch. The subplot consists of chrysanthemum
varieties, i.e. euro, aster , cat eye , and tontak.
Results showed that height of plant, numbers of
sprout, time of sprouting, and time of flowering
were influenced by varieties. Thrips spp.,
population, flowers destruction percentage, and
flower damage intensity were smaller in black
silver mulch and black plastic mulch treatments
than other treatments. Combination of black silver
or black plastic mulch with cat eye or tontlak
variety result the lowest number of Thrips spp.,
flower damages percentage, and flower damage
intensity.
