Abstract


This field experiment was carried out to study effects of phosphor fertilizer and rice straw mulching on growth characteristics (CRG and LAI) and seed nitrogen contents of pigeon peas (ICPL 84031 variant) and those of yield components on the yield of this plant at different planting distances. The experiment was done during the dry season in Mpanau Village, Palu, Central Sulawesi. A factorial split plot design was applied and each treatment was repeated three times. Results showed that the CRG and LAI of the pigeon peas followed a quadratic trend. Higher levels of phosphor fertilizer were associated with higher seed nitrogen contents. The dominant yield component affecting the yield was the number of seed per plant followed then by the weight of 100 dry seeds
