EFEKTIVITAS INOKULASI AZOSPIRILLUM DALAM MENGHEMAT PEMUPUKAN UREA PADA TANAMAN JAGUNG (Zea Mays L.)

Abstract

The research was intended to study the effectiveness of Azospirillum sp. inoculation in conserving the utilization of urea fertilizer on maize crop (Zea mays L.). Seven experimental treatments were arranged in a randomized block design. They were without Azospirillum and urea fertilizer (A₀₁), without Azospirillum + urea 200 kg ha^-1(A₀₂), Azospirillum and without urea(A₁), Azospirillum + Urea 50 kg ha^-1(A₂), Azospirillum + Urea 100 kg ha^-1(A₃),  Azospirillum + Urea 150 kg ha^-1(A₄), and Azospirillum + Urea 200 kg ha^-1(A₅). Each of the treatment was replicated three times resulting in 21 experimental units. Results showed that the Azospirillum sp. inoculation may reduce the use of urea fertilizer from the recommended level of 200 kg ha^-1 to 100 kg ha^-1. Yield of corn for the best treatment, i.e. Azospirillum sp. combined with urea at 100 kg ha^-1 was 7.69 tones ha^-1.
